This project was completed by Melissa A. Heike before she was hired as the Manager of Health & Safety Service for NGE.
Ms. Heike conducted an on-site multi-day Ergonomic Risk Assessment for a manufacturing client. This assessment helped to assist corporate personnel in maximizing productivity, safety, and health. Processes and materials audited as part of this project included all production lines, operator die changes, grinding, compounding, shipping, fabrication, maintenance, die shop, milling, and a review of injury and illness data.
While onsite, Ms. Heike acquired quantitative data on the job tasks through observation, video analysis of job requirements and meetings with workers, supervisors, and management.
Ms. Heike analyzed the data that was collected for each job and a final report was prepared and presented to the appropriate personnel. The report detailed the prioritization and description of the ergonomic needs for all of the jobs assessed. Detailed recommendations were provided for job modification and improvement which included product solutions, design changes and/or administrative solutions.
