DIRECTOR OF ENVIRONMENTAL OPERATIONS
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Position: Full-Time, Executive Leadership
Salary: From $150,000
Are you an experienced environmental professional ready to take the lead in shaping the future of a high-performing environmental consulting practice? Our Pittsburgh-based firm seeks a dynamic, strategic, and technically adept leader to oversee Environmental Operations. This is a rare opportunity to take charge of a successful existing practice, including implementing growth strategies, strengthening client relationships, and leading a talented technical team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leadership & Strategy: Manage all aspects of the environmental practice, including business strategy, operations, and compliance. Partner closely with executive leadership (CEO, CFO, CHRO) to develop and execute strategic goals.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of environmental engineers, scientists, and field professionals. Oversee recruitment, hiring, performance, promotions, and professional development.
- Technical Oversight: Provide senior-level technical review and direction on various environmental projects including environmental reporting, auditing, permitting, sampling, remediation and other environmental projects associated with CAA, CWA, RCRA, CERCLA and other environmental programs including state and local regulatory requirements.
- Client & Business Growth: Strengthen existing client partnerships and lead business development initiatives to grow existing and new service offerings and footprint. Develop and implement sales plans, support marketing efforts, and develop proposals.
- Financial Performance: Responsibility for the financial performance of Environmental Operations, including proposal and project budgets, tracking performance, and alignment of practice operations with financial and growth objectives. Develop Environmental Operations forecasting and fiscal planning associated with the company’s ESOP.
- Industry Engagement: Represent the firm through participation in trade organizations, professional conferences, networking events, and other relevant events.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- B.S. in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related technical field (advanced degree a plus).
- Professional relevant license or certification preferred (P.E., P.G., QEP, CHMM, CEP).
Proven successful experience in environmental consulting (minimum 10 years preferred) and a solid working knowledge of various environmental regulatory requirements. Strong project and client management skills.
Leadership and/or executive-level experience (minimum 3-5 years preferred), specifically management of multi-disciplinary teams, business strategy development and implementation, and business development and growth responsibilities.
